TikTok returns to Apple, Google app stores in US

TikTok has made its way back on the Apple and Google app stores in the United States, nearly a month after it had been removed in compliance with a law that banned it due to national security concerns.

Both stores removed the app and kept it unavailable despite TikTok restoring its services some 12 hours after going dark, attributing its return to President Donald Trump, who later signed an executive order delaying the ban for 75 days. Since then, he floated multiple ideas for TikTok's future, suggesting at one point that there would be a bidding war for the app. He revealed Microsoft's interest in TikTok and said he would be open to Elon Musk buying it. However, Musk reportedly said he has no plans to acquire the platform.

Apple brought TikTok back after a letter from US Attorney General Pam Bondi assured the company that it would not face any fines for violating the law that banned the app, Politico reported, citing a person familiar with the correspondence.
