Major US stock markets closed mixed on Wednesday in anticipation of the latest speech of United States Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell that will take place tomorrow, as investors are hoping to get more clues on the country's monetary policy. Earlier today the yield on the ten-year US Treasury note jumped to a level last seen in July 2007, which seemingly dragged the indexes down.
The Dow Jones fell 0.20% at the close with Verizon Communications Inc down 1.79%. The Nasdaq 100 was up 0.24%, as Sirius XM Holdings jumped 4.90%. The S&P 500 was flat.
