US closes mostly higher on easing trade tensions

US stocks closed the week with a mostly higher performance on Friday as market participants assessed shifting dynamics in international trade relations, while technology sector leaders saw gains.

Market volatility has intensified over recent weeks as investors work to understand the implications of US President Donald Trump's tariff announcements from April 2. Mixed messaging regarding trade policy has contributed to market uncertainty.

The Nasdaq 100 was 1.14% higher at close as the S&P 500 index gained 0.74% with Charter Communications Inc up by 11.43%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded flat.

The euro lost 0.26% against the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, selling for $1.13615.
