US closes sharply lower with Nasdaq sinking 3%

Stock indexes in the United States closed deep in the red on Tuesday as the latest reports on manufacturing activity reignited concerns about the state of the economy. The Nasdaq 100 was also dragged down by Nvidia plunging over 9%.

The Dow Jones lost 1.51% or 626 points at close as Intel Corp. fell by 8.80%. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 3.15% or 615 points, led by Constellation Energy Corp. at 9.62%. The S&P 500 slumped 2.11%, with Vistra Corp. plummeting 11.34%.

The euro traded 0.28% lower compared to the dollar, selling for 1.10416 at 4:02 pm ET.
