Major stock market indexes in the United States opened lower on Wednesday ahead of the Federal Reserve's newest monetary policy decision. Earlier in the day, the latest report on the country's mortgage applications showed a worsening compared to the previous week and a seasonally adjusted decline of 1.8%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average went down by 0.36% or 126 points as Visa Inc. lost 4.05%. The Nasdaq 100 decreased by 0.30%, with CoStar Group Inc. sinking by 6.67% at 9:31 am ET. The S&P 500 dropped by 0.17% as Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) plunged by 5.13%.
The euro increased by 0.14% against the dollar to sell for $1.10673 at 9:28 am ET.
