New orders for US manufactured durable goods remained flat in August at $289.7 billion compared with the previous month, the US Census Bureau revealed in a preview report released Thursday.
The figure follows a 9.9% increase in July. Excluding transportation, new orders rose 0.5%, while defense orders declined 0.2%.
With two of the last three months up, electrical equipment, appliances and components drove the increase, up $0.3 billion or 1.9%, to $14.4 billion.
