Durable goods orders in the United States rose by 1.4% or $3.7 billion in February, landing at $277.9 billion, a report published by the United States Census Bureau on Tuesday showed.
Transportation equipment led the increase, up 3.3% or $2.9 billion in comparison to the previous month, coming in at $90.4 billion. Excluding transportation, new orders rose 0.5% month on month and excluding defense, they went up by 2.2%.
Meanwhile, shipments of manufactured durable goods grew by 1.2% to $282.7 billion in February, and transportation equipment led the increase, improving by 4.0% to $89.8 billion.
