US extends gains, Dow surges nearly 250 pts

Stock exchanges on Wall Street registered significant gains on Tuesday after upbeat data briefly allayed concerns over the United States' economic stability.

The positive sentiment was boosted by the jump in Tesla's stock after the Texas-based carmaker opened its charging stations network to Volvo Cars. Tesla's shares rose by 3.59% to $249.420 apiece. In addition, the US standards organization, known as SAE International, revealed support to standardize Tesla-developed North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging connector for electric vehicles in the country.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 245 points or 0.73% at 2:08 pm ET. The Nasdaq 100 surged 1.73% as Lucid Group skyrocketed 9.90%. while the S&P 500 rallied 1.17%.

The euro was up 0.49% against the American dollar, trading at $1.09618 at 2:10 pm ET.
