US factory orders down 1.8% in November

New orders for manufactured goods in the United States stood at $543.3 billion in November, representing a decrease of 1.8% or $9.8 billion on a monthly basis, the US Census Bureau reported on Friday.

Shipments were down 0.6% following three consecutive monthly increases to reach $548.6 billion. Following twenty-six consecutive monthly increases, unfilled orders were down to $0.2 billion or virtually unchanged to $1,143.1 billion, while unfilled orders-to-shipments ratio was 6.02.

Inventories increased $0.1 billion or virtually unchanged to $804.7 billion. The inventories-to-shipments ratio was 1.47, up from 1.46 in October.
