US futures mostly down with tariffs in spotlight

Wall Street stock futures traded mostly lower ahead of the opening bell on Thursday, after United States President Donald Trump announced earlier that a 50% tariff on copper imports will be effective starting August 1. Furthermore, the US president also revealed a 50% tax on Brazil, to which Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva responded that "any unilateral tariff increases will be addressed in accordance with Brazil's Economic Reciprocity Law."

At 4:19 am ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average futures went down by 0.23%. Simultaneously, S&P 500 futures decreased by 0.13%, while the Nasdaq 100 futures traded flat.

In currency markets, the euro traded flat against the dollar, going for $1.17275 at 4:28 am ET.
