Major United States futures tumbled on Thursday as investors were seemingly unimpressed with the latest batch of earnings, as IBM plunged almost 8% in the premarket. Meanwhile, even though the Trump administration expressed a softer stance on trade matters with China, no progress has yet been made, as Beijing officials noted that the two aren't negotiating at the moment.
The Dow Jones slid 0.61% or 242 points at 4:11 am ET. A minute later, the Nasdaq 100 plummeted 1% or 187 points and the S&P 500 declined 0.76%.
The euro traded 0.55% above the dollar at 10:23 am ET, going for 1.13769.
