Housing starts in the United States stood at 1,324,000 in March, falling by 11.4% compared to the previous month, the US Census Bureau revealed in its report on Thursday. Year-on-year, the figure rose by 1.9%. Single-family housing starts reached 940,000, dropping by 14.2% on a monthly basis.
Building permits rose by 1.6% in March compared to the revised February rate to stand at 1,482,000, but were 0.2% lower than in March 2024. Single-family permits fell by 2.0% month-on-month to reach 978,000 in the reported month.
Housing completions came in at 1,549,000, marking 2.1% below February but up 3.9% annually. Single-family completions ticked up 0.9% to 1,029,000.
