Privately-owned housing starts in the United States recorded a monthly increase of 14.8% in November and landed at 1,560,000, the US Census Bureau revealed in its report published on Friday. The number rose by 9.3% compared to the same month 2022.
Single-family housing starts were up 18% to 1,143,000 on a monthly basis, and single-family housing completions fell by 3.2% to 960,000 units.
Building permits for privately-owned housing units fell by 2.5% to stand at 1,460,000 in November but increased by 4.1% year-over-year. Single-family authorizations in November were up by 0.7% to reach 976,000.
