Annual inflation in the United States came in at 3.2% in July compared to 3% in June, according to the latest report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday. The figure was slightly lower than expected. On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 0.2%.
The main contributor to the monthly CPI increase was shelter, accounting for over 90% of the price growth, followed by motor vehicle insurance. Meanwhile, the CPI without food and energy was up by 4.7% year-on-year and 0.2% compared to June. The energy index decreased 12.5% for the last 12 months, and the food index increased 4.9%.
