Initial jobless claims in the United States stood at 213,000 for the week ending November 23, which was lower by 2,000 compared to the prior week's revised figure, the Department of Labor revealed in its report on Wednesday. The four-week moving average fell by 1,250 compared to the previous week and stood at 217,000.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 1.3% in the week ending November 16, unchanged from the previous week. The insured unemployed figure for the same week stood at 1,907,000, an increase of 9,000 on a weekly basis. The four-week moving average was up by 13,500 to 1,890,250.
