US initial jobless claims down 22,000 to 209,000

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending November 18 came in at 209,000, decreasing by 22,000 compared to the previous week's revised level, the Department of Labor said in its report published on Wednesday. The 4-week moving average was 220,000 decreasing by 750 week-on-week.

The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending November 11 remained unchanged from the previous week's revised rate and stood at 1.2%. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment decreased by 22,000 on a weekly basis to reach 1,840,000. The 4-week moving average grew by 14,250 to 1,836,750.
