The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States saw a weekly decline of 7,000 to 227,000 in the seven days ending August 10, the Department of Labor unveiled in its report published on Thursday.
The 4-week moving average went down by 4,500 week-on-week to 236,500. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending August 3 remained the same as the previous one at 1.2%. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week declined by 7,000 to 1,864,000.
The 4-week moving average went up by 1,000 to 1,862,000.
