The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States fell by 16,000 to 187,000 in the week ending January 13, the Department of Labor shared in its report on Thursday. The 4-week moving average declined by 4,750 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 203,250.
Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1.2% in the week ending January 6, remaining unchanged in comparison to the previous week, as the insured unemployment number amounted to 1,806,000, down 26,000 from the previous week's revised figures. The 4-week moving average was 1,848,000, sliding 13,750 compared to the week prior.
