The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 2,000 to 220,000 in the week ending March 8, the Department of Labor announced in its report on Thursday. The 4-week moving average grew by 1,500 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 226,000.
Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1.2% in the week ending March 1, remaining unchanged in comparison to the previous week, as the insured unemployment number amounted to 1,870,000, down 27,000 from the previous week's unrevised figures. The 4-week moving average was 1,872,250, increasing by 6,250 compared to the week prior.
