The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States observed a weekly decline of 5,000 to 207,000 in the seven days ending April 20, coming in at a lower figure than estimated, the Department of Labor said in its report published on Thursday.
The 4-week moving average dropped by 1,250 from the previous week's unrevised average to 213,250. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending April 13 did not change compared to the past seven-day period and remained at 1.2%. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week decreased by 15,000 to 1,781,000. The 4-week moving average went down by 7,250 to 1,794,000.
