The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 5,000 to 233,000 in the week ending June 22, the Department of Labor revealed in its report published on Thursday. The figure came below analysts' expectations.
The four-week moving average climbed by 3,000 in comparison to the week before, coming in at 236,000. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending June 8, stood at 1.2%, unchanged compared to the week before, with the number for insured unemployment at 1,839,000, up by 18,000 from the previous week.
The 4-week moving average was 1,816,000, an increase of 12,250 from the previous week's revised average.
