    US initial jobless claims up by 2,000 to 207,000

    The number of initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending September 30 increased by 2,000 compared to the previous week's revised rate to land at 207,000, the US Labor Department published on Thursday.

    The 4-week moving average decreased by 2,500 compared to the previous week's revised average and reached 208,750.

    The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate stood at 1.1% for the week ending September 23, unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment was down by 1,000 week-on-week to hit 1,664,000. The 4-week moving average dipped by 5,000 on a weekly basis to stand at 1,667,500.
