The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States rose by 2,000 to 223,000 in the week ending March 15, the Department of Labor announced in its report on Thursday. The 4-week moving average grew by 750 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 227,000.
Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1.2% in the week ending March 8, remaining unchanged in comparison to the previous week, as the insured unemployment number amounted to 1,892,000, up 33,000 from the previous week's unrevised figures. The 4-week moving average was 1,875,750, increasing by 6,250 compared to the week prior.
