Initial jobless claims in the United States in the week ending October 15 decreased by 12,000 to 214,000 from the previous week's revised figure, the Department of Labor announced on Thursday. The 4-week moving average was 212,250, an increase of 1,250 from the previous week's revised average.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending October 8 was 1% at 1,385,000, up 0.1 percentage points from the previous week's revised rate. The 4-week moving average was 1,365,000, an increase of 2,250 from the previous week's revised average.
