Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending July 15 went down by 9,000 compared to the previous week's revised figure to come in at 228,000, the US Department of Labor said in its report published on Thursday. The four-week moving average landed at 237,500, declining by 9,250 compared to the previous seven-day period's revised average.
The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending July 8 remained at 1.2%, unchanged in comparison with the previous one's unrevised level. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment for the same period rose by 33,000 compared to the past week's revised average to stand at 1,754,000. The four-week moving average dropped by 1,750 in the same timeframe and was 1,731,500.
