United States Federal Judge Matthew Kennelly issued a temporary order stopping parts of US President Donald Trump's executive order aimed at stopping diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts among federal grant recipients and contractors.
Kennelly temporarily prohibited the US Department of Labor from mandating that contractors and grant recipients certify that they do not operate DEI programs that violate US anti-discrimination laws.
The judge's order came in response to the lawsuit filed by Chicago Women in Trades, a non-profit holding several contracts with the Department of Labor. However, the judge refused to extend the order to other federal agencies.
