Stock markets in the United States traded lower before the opening bell on Friday as investors monitored the fallout of the Trump administration's latest tariff announcement. The European Union, Mexico and Canada have come out against the measures and are considering retaliatory tariffs. Markets will also react to the PCE inflation reading for February, which will inform the Federal Reserve's future policy decisions, as well as a consumer confidence report for March.
The Dow Jones fell by 0.26% at 4:28 am ET, the Nasdaq 100 lost 0.65% and the S&P 500 declined by 0.48%.
The euro traded 0.17% lower against the dollar and sold for 1.07817 at 4:29 am ET.
