US markets recover further, Nasdaq jumps 1.4%

EPA/JUSTIN LANE

Major stock exchanges on Wall Street continued to rise on Tuesday, recovering from losses seen the day before after the news of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek plunged the tech industry into losses.

Nvidia Corporation's stock was up 5% on the day after a short-lived selloff. Ripple Labs Inc. CEO Brad Garlinghouse's comments appeared to propel gains of some crypto-related stocks, as Donald Trump's presidency is considered "profound" for digital tokens. Investors also digested the latest round of corporate earnings released before the bell, including General Motors, RTX, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin. Starbucks is set to deliver its opening quarter results for its fiscal 2025 after the markets close.

The Nasdaq 100 climbed 1.44%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.29% or 129 points at 12:22 pm ET. The S&P 500 advanced 0.80%.

The euro lost 0.58% against the dollar, changing hands for 1.04277.
