US markets turn red, Dow falls 200 pts

Major stock indexes in the United States markets changed course entirely shortly after the opening, giving up the gains of the first few minutes after the bell sounded to swing completely into losses. The Dow Jones began with volatility moving into flat territory and then into the red as the other two indices tried to hold on. Twenty minutes after the opening, the Dow fell to the 200-point level.

At 9:50 am ET, the Dow Jones dived by 0.50% or 200 points as Procter and Gamble Co decreased 1.51%. The S&P 500 fell 0.31% with Qualcomm Inc dropping 3.92%. The Nasdaq 100 lost 0.31% with Grail Inc tumbling 5.32%. The euro gained 0.12% against the dollar at 9:50 am ET to change hands for $1.09291.
