The US government is close to greenlighting Nvidia's export of its advanced H200 chips to Saudi Arabia, Semafor reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
These chips play a vital role in the training and functioning of high-performance AI models. Further, to keep up with the UAE's advancements in AI development, Saudi Arabia is "aligning" with the US to secure these chips, the sources added.
Previously, the Biden administration's restrictions on semiconductors affected Saudi Arabia due to its close relationship with China.
