Sales of new single‐family houses in the United States saw a monthly jump of 5.8% in November to come in at 640,000, beating expectations, the US Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development stated in their report issued on Friday. However, on an annual level, the figure plunged by 15.3% for the corresponding month.
The median sales price of new houses sold amounted to $471,200 in November of this year, while the average sales price was $543,600. The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of November came in at 461,000, a supply of 8.6 months at the current sales rate.
