Crude oil inventories in the United States surged by 7.1 million barrels in the week ending July 4, according to private data released Tuesday by the American Petroleum Institute (API).
Gasoline stockpiles fell by 2.2 million barrels during the same week, while distillate inventories declined by 800,000 barrels. The report also showed a modest build of 100,000 barrels in Cushing, Oklahoma.
