The number of oil rigs in the United States stood at 501 in the week ending December 15, declining by two compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count data released on Friday. On an annual basis, the number of oil rigs dropped by 119.
The US gas rig count was unchanged during the same week, while it fell by 35 compared to last year. The total number of rigs in the country currently stands at 623, down by three from last week but plunging by 153 from the previous year.
In Canada, the number of total rigs was down by nine to 185 compared to the week before and decreased by 14 from the same period in 2022. The number of oil rigs in Canada declined by two to 118, and the number of gas rigs fell by seven to 67.
