The number of oil rigs in the United States decreased by 8 to 592 in the week ending March 3 compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.
The number of US gas rigs rose by 3 to 154 during the same week bringing the total number of rigs in the country to 749. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs was up by 73.
In Canada, the number of rigs increased by 2 to 246. The number of oil rigs in Canada remained unchanged at 158 and the number of gas rigs rose by 2 to 88. Canada's oil rig count was up by 24 compared to the same period in 2022.
