The number of oil rigs in the United States went up by 2 to 548 in the week ending April 14 compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Thursday.
The number of US gas rigs rose by 2 to 143 during the same week, while the total number of rigs in the country was up by 4 to 693. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs increased by 204.
In Canada, the number of rigs fell by 8 to 103. The number of oil rigs in Canada dropped by 4 to 49 and the number of gas rigs was down by 4 to 54. Canada's oil rig count increased by 32 compared to the same period in 2021.
