The number of oil rigs in the United States increased by 8 to 610 in the week ending October 14 compared to the previous week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig count released on Friday.
The number of US gas rigs fell by 1 to 157 during the same week bringing the total number of rigs in the country to 769. Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of oil rigs was up by 165.
In Canada, the number of rigs rose by 1 to 216. The number of oil rigs in Canada increased by 2 to 150, while the number of gas rigs decreased by 1 to 66. Canada's oil rig count was up by 52 compared to the same period in 2021.
