US opens higher after retail sales print

Major stock equities in New York opened higher on Thursday as investors digested the latest report on consumer spending power in the United States, which showed stronger-than-expected retail sales in September.

On the earnings front, Blackstone Inc. and TSMC reported their financial results for the third quarter. Netflix Inc. is set to publish its report after the closing bell on Wall Street.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.24% as the Travelers Companies Inc. surged 6.07%. The Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.99% with Arm Holdings Plc. rising 2.78%. The S&P 500 climbed 0.59% as Blackstone soared 6.48%.

The euro was down 0.41% against the dollar, selling at 1.08174.
