US opens lower after trade balance data

Major stock markets in the United States opened lower on Friday following the release of the latest trade balance report which saw the country's trade deficit increase to $102.9 billion in November.

At 9:30 am ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average index lost 0.62% or 270 points, as 3M Company went down by 1.21%. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.63% or 135 points at the same time, with PDD Holdings Inc trading 1.82% in the red, while the S&P 500 decreased 0.60%, as CME Group Inc plunged 2.75%.

The euro traded 0.11% higher against the dollar at 9:27 am ET, to sell for $1.04319.
