The US Department of Defense raised on Tuesday the readiness level of some 2,000 troops amid the escalating situation in the Middle East.
Although no decision has yet been made on any force, the Pentagon said the move "increases DoD's ability to respond quickly to the evolving security environment in the Middle East."
Besides, according to the statement released, the department approved "a deployment extension for the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group in the US Naval Forces Europe-Africa/Sixth Fleet Area of Operations."
