US reaffirms it is willing to ease Venezuela sanctions

United States President Joe Biden said in a call with the US-recognized Interim President of Venezuela Juan Guaido that his administration "is willing to calibrate" its sanctions policy after negotiations between the Venezuelan government and opposition.

In May, the two sides agreed to restart talks that stalled in October 2021. Biden stated the negotiations are "the best path toward a peaceful restoration of democratic institutions, free and fair elections, and respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Venezuelans."
