The United States State Department on Wednesday imposed additional sanctions targeting already sanctioned Russia-based entities and individuals for their involvement in building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Russia-based marine services providers, the state-owned Marine Rescue Service, as well as vessels sailing under the Russian flag were included in the list of sanctioned entities under the Protecting Europe’s Energy Security Act (PEESA) and the presidential executive order which allows for the blocking of property of entities linked with the activities of the Russian government.
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline currently remains inoperable after the destruction caused by a series of underwater explosions occurring on September 26, 2022.
