The number of injured climbed quickly after a massive explosion struck Iran's Shahid Rajaei port on Saturday, with at least 280 people taken to hospitals, according to emergency services spokesman Babak Yektaparast, cited by IRNA. So far, authorities have not reported any deaths.
Yektaparast said 15 ambulances and an emergency helicopter were sent to the scene. Emergency teams from nearby cities were also placed on high alert to assist with the response.
Authorities confirmed that four Red Crescent rapid response teams were deployed and clarified that the explosion was not connected to oil facilities.
