Retail sales in the United States improved by 1.4% in March on a monthly basis, reaching $734.9 billion, according to a report by the Census Bureau on Wednesday. Compared to March 2024, retail trade rose by 4.6%, with both figures exceeding analysts' expectations.
The increase in retail sales was led by motor vehicle and parts dealers, which saw an 8.8% jump year-on-year, while nonstore retailers recorded a 4.8% sales growth.
