US rises premarket as attention turns to election

UNSPLASH/PATRICK WEISSENBERGER

Stocks in the United States recorded gains in the premarket on Monday after a muted start earlier in the morning. The earnings season continues, with the likes of Fox and Palantir reporting today, but investors are starting to brace for tomorrow's presidential election. With the race between former US President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris still too close to call, markets can expect some volatility in the next few days, especially if the winner is not declared in the immediate aftermath of the ballot.

The Dow Jones added 0.13% at 6:10 am ET, the Nasdaq 100 rose by 0.18% and the S&P 500 improved by 0.20%.

The euro traded 0.65% higher compared to the dollar, selling for 1.09041 at 6:11 am ET.
