The United States drafted its own United Nations (UN) resolution related to the war in Ukraine without marking Russia as the aggressor or recognizing Ukraine's territorial integrity, CNN reported on Saturday citing the draft resolution it obtained.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement that the document is "a simple, historic resolution … that we urge all member states to support in order to chart a path to peace." He added that the resolution is consistent with US President Donald Trump's "view that the UN must return to its founding purpose."
According to CNN, the document is short and expresses sorrow over the "tragic loss of life throughout the Russia-Ukraine conflict" and calls for a fast end to the war.
