The United States Department of Treasury announced on Monday it imposed sanctions against seven individuals and four entities from Ukraine that were involved in the alleged Russia-linked interference in the 2020 US election.
The US sanctioned ex-Ukrainian government officials Konstantin Kulyk, Oleksandr Onyshchenko, Andriy Telizhenko, and current member of the Ukrainian parliament Oleksandr Dubinsky, who allegedly cooperated with Russian agent Andrii Derkach, as well as Derkach's aides Petro Zhuravel, Dmytro Kovalchuk and Anton Simonenko. Media companies NabuLeaks, Era-Media TOV and Skeptik TOV also found their names on the list due to "pushing false narratives at Derkach's behest" and "spread disinformation."
"Russian disinformation campaigns targeting American citizens are a threat to our democracy. The United States will continue to aggressively defend the integrity of our election systems and processes," US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (pictured) said in a statement.
