United States Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Monday that $2 billion has been requested to make a "new international infrastructure fund which will outcompete China."
The fund aims to provide a "credible [and] reliable alternative" to options coming from China, Miller noted at a press conference, adding that it also aims to expand "markets and opportunities for US businesses."
The fund is envisioned to support "transformative quality and sustainable hard infrastructure projects," Miller detailed.
