US shares surge, Dow jumps 500 points

Major stock markets on Wall Street extended gains on Friday before the closing bell, with Dow Jones Industrial Average scoring over 500 points, as Apple Inc. pushed the index up.

Personal consumption expenditures recorded an increase of 0.9% in April, while wholesome inventories surged by 23.8% on an annual basis.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped by 500 points or 1.52% at 3:26 pm ET, while Nasdaq 100 surged 3.09% or 380 points a minute later. The S&P 500 also increased by 2.24% or 90 points at the same time. The euro traded 0.13% higher against the dollar, going for $1.07295 at 3:29 pm ET.
