US to auction near 1M acres for oil, gas production

The United States Department of the Interior announced Monday that the government will auction 958,000 acres in Alaska for oil drilling.

The lease sale will be held on December 30 and could lead to additional crude oil and natural gas production.

According to early projections, nearly 200 million barrels of oil and 300 billion cubic feet of natural gas could be produced as a result of this action.
