United States President Joe Biden authorized the Department of Defense to ready up to 3,000 reserve troops for potential deployment in Europe. He argued it is "necessary to augment" the US military presence in Europe "for the effective conduct of Operation Atlantic Resolve."
"These Reserve Component forces are to augment the active forces for Operation Atlantic Resolve to enhance the United States’ ability to sustain its heightened level of presence and operations in support of United States European Command," Biden argued in a letter to Congress. It is currently unclear whether and when any reserve units will be deployed.
